The largest poison dart frog in Costa Rica. Known as the Green and Black Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates auratus). This frog produces a toxin in its skin that it uses to defend itself against predators, so it's not recommended to handle them. In Costa Rica, they are only found in green and black, but in other countries like Panama, they can also be found in light blue, yellow, white, and even all black. They are definitely beautiful little frogs that grace our forests. Have you seen them?
